Yesterday everything changed. Why? Because Google has not taken an exit from the Indian smartphone market. It was rumoured that this is bye-bye from Google to the Indian market. But now Pixel 4a comes as the successor to the Pixel 3a and includes features like a hole-punch display and a square-shaped camera module at the back that make it look similar to the Pixel 4 which did not come to India.
Pixel 4a Build and Specifications
The Pixel 4a is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G octa-core (2.2 GHz, Dual-core, Kryo 470 + 1.8 GHz, Hexa Core, Kryo 470) processor with Adreno 612 GPU and has Google’s Titan M security module for on-device security. The reason behind choosing this processor was to reduce the cost and market it cheaper than OnePlus Nord and iPhone SE. It comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM and does not support expandable storage microSD card. It is powered by a 3140 mAh battery that the company claims will last all day.
The Indian version of Google Pixel 4a comes in just one colour — ‘Just Black’ —whereas the international version of this phone has colour variants. It 5.8-inch 60Hz OLED display will get extra storage with three-month free trials of YouTube Premium and Google One. It has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 82.74 %.
The Pixel 4a also comes with a range of connectivity options that include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, and a USB Type-C port. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Pixel 4a comes with same 12MP camera sensor as its predecessor i.e. only with a single camera. There is no wide-angle, no telephoto, no super zoom system and not even a macro(that’s better). On paper, this is not encouraging, but specs speak for itself. Like other Pixel phones, the Pixel 4a has great software optimization. As a Youtuber puts it in review, “images from the Pixel 4a are classic Google. That is, they’ll look fantastic straight out of the camera in nearly any situation.”
The camera of Pixel 4a is simple and its weakness too. Other phone makers are adding more lenses, bigger sensors, and more complex zoom systems. This allows the users to capture a photo in the best way possible. Meanwhile, with the Pixel 4a, what you see is what you get.
The phone will be available on Flipkart and starts its first sale on October 16, it is launched at RS 31,999 but is available at Rs 29,999 as a part of Big Billion Days which is also starting on October 16. However, when compared to Pixel 3a it is Rs 10,000 cheaper. If this aggressive pricing strategy continues then it can surpass OnePlus Nord.
