After banning most of the Chinese apps including Tiktok, UC Browser Indian government bans top Chinese apps including Baidu and Weibo. These top Chinese apps Baidu search and Weibo are to be taken off from the app stores.

These two apps were the most influential Chinese products that are asked to be taken off from the app stores of Apple and Google and ISP’s are told to block these apps.

They are among the 47 new apps that the government had banned on July 27

Government is also considering to block some more apps.

When the first decision was taken to block Chinese apps including Tiktok, UC Browser, Camscanner, Helo, Shareit, WeChat on June 29 for being engaged in the activities that are prejudicial to the country’s sovereignty, integrity, and defence of India.

After taking the first decision to ban 59 Chinese apps government has created a supplemented list to ban more 49 apps.

Indian government bans top Chinese apps

Weibo was launched in 2009 and has over 500 million registered users globally. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was one of the star users when he opened an account on one of the Chinese microblogging website that has over 100+ posts and 2 lakhs followers.

From some years Baidu was testing the product in India and upon the visit of Baidu’s CEO CEO Robin Li, he said that he said that they would love to work with India in some specific fields such as Artificial Intelligence and mobile computing.

If we go through the list in which the Indian government bans top Chinese apps Baidu and Weibo and there were some more apps and most of these apps were the clone of the original versions of the app such as TikTok Lite, Likee Lite, Bigo Live Lite, Shareit Lite, and Camscanner HD.

After banning some more Chinese apps in India, the government has decided to ban these apps and asked app stores to remove the apps and ISPs block them for being engaged in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India.
