Xiaomi has been seeding out MIUI 12 update to the eligible smartphones worldwide since late April. But still, yet to complete the rollout. Redmi 9 will be the latest device to get the firm’s newest mobile operating system is the global variant of Redmi 9. This device is also known as Redmi 9 Prime in India. This is a stable MIUI 12 beta update that can be downloaded via the MIUI Telegram page. The MIUI 12 update will be provided to selected users for testing and verifying any major bugs. The new system update comes with build number V18.104.22.168.QJCMIXM. If these early adopters don’t face any issue, then the same build will be made available for more users and then followed by a wider rollout.
Redmi 9 was one of the most-shipped smartphones in Q3 2020. Despite its popularity, Xiaomi is yet to release MIUI 12 for this handset worldwide. The firm began to roll out this update in late September in China. But the global version of this device has started receiving the same update only now.
MIUI 12 was announced this year in April. Xiaomi said that it would be a new experience with reworked system-wide animations and visualizations. Highlights of MIUI 12 update include an improved system-wide Dark Mode that also covers third-party apps, an ultra-battery-saver mode, and an App Drawer that sorts apps by categories.
However, if this build has a major bug in it, another build will be made and the cycle will be repeated again. If the current build passes through a stable beta phase then it will be rolled to other devices also.
Redmi 9 Specifications and Camera: Global Variant
Redmi 9 global variant features a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) IPS display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has powered by MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. This is expandable via a microSD card (up to 512GB). Redmi 9 houses a 5,020mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The phone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and is P2i splash-proof.
In terms of camera, Redmi 9 features a quad rear camera setup. It houses a 13-megapixel primary shooter, 8-megapixel secondary shooter with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5-megapixel macro shooter, and lastly, a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel camera sensor at the front.
