Reliance Jio has launched JioPages, a Web browser based on Chromium Blink with support for features like encrypted connections, and it also supports 8 Indian languages, and is now available for download on Google Play. In an announcement, Reliance Jio highlighted Web security and data privacy.
Reiance Jio one fo the most dominant telecomm company in India. Jio is one of the most successful brands in India. This has totally changed the game in the telecomm business and has also affected other business industries in many ways.
Now not only in telecomm but they have launched variety of prpducts using “JIO”; such as JioPhone-a featured 4G VOLTE phone, JioMart for groceries at discounted price, JioSaavn for music streaming, JioCinema and JioTV for OTT services, AJIO store for fashion and many more.
Recetly, On wednesday Reliance Jio launched JioPages, a Web browser based on Chromium Blink with support for features like encrypted connections, and also support 8 Indian languages, and is now available for download on Google Play.
In an announcement, Reliance Jio highlighted Web security and data privacy, and also notes other features such as news content localised in different Indian languages, a smart download manager, incognito browsing, and themes.
This supported eight languages are Hindi, Guajarati, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telegu. User can change the language in Settings page of the browser.
Although JioPages has been designed in India, its underlying Chromium Blink engine has been developed with contributions from Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Opera Software, Adobe Systems, and others.
Features of JioPages
The JioPages browser feed is customised according to the user’s language settings, and by their region and topic settings. JioPages will also send notifications on pages that are “either important or of interest to the user.
A new feature called Informative Card will show key numbers, trends, symbols or headlines in the form of clickable banners. Users can just tap on them and get all the related information.
JioPages will allow users to get customised content based on their state. They can select their preferred state to access information in their regional language. JioPages will automatically categorise downloads according to their file types like image, video, document or pages.
Although being desgined in India its roots come from indirect collaboration of Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Opera Software, Adobe Systems, and others which is Chromium Blink engine. For me it is an UC Browser 2.0.
